PEZ MP3 logo design

This custom logo design for the brand new, officially licensed PEZ MP3 player was a project that I totally fell in love with. Yep, it's a PEZ dispenser with an MP3 player inside - take that, iPod nano! Patrick, the mastermind behind the PEZ MP3 endeavor, chose me to create his logo after visiting my site, and seeing the Odd Rod art and reading about my long-time love of MAD Magazine. Couple that with my love of gadgets and corny old toys, and this was a perfect connection.

Patrick had a fairly clear vision of how he wanted the logo to look, at least conceptually. We wanted a look that evoked childhood memories of toys and games, but didn't mimick them. We were both on the same page and things went pretty smoothly. The final design was down th epath of the old Mattel hand-held sports games, with a dash of the old Star Wars action figure blister-pack packaging design.

I also designed the blister-card for the player, but I know that there was still some bac and forth with PEZ regarding final art, so I am not sure if my design made it to print or not. The PEZ MP3 is available now from PEZMP3.com.
