This scooter hot rod/Odd Rods monster cartoon illustration was created for an Austin, Texas scooter freak and his 'blog The Scooter Scoop. The client wanted a cartoon illustration of a Mod scooter creature in the style of the "Big Daddy" Roth & Odd Rods. we had a lot of fun developing this illustration, right down the the Swiss Army knife and train whistle on the front.
You should see the length some of the real scooter fanatics go to to customize their bikes - I kept thinking as I threw more and more on the front that there were too many headlights, and then I'd go back to the reference photos and realize there still wasn't enough! The literal "foxtail" on the whip antenna was a nice touch of inspiration by the client.
A very collaborative illustration, and the final cartoon came out pretty awesome if I don't say so myself.
